The Horus Class is the military sister to the civilian Aetius Class Corvette and is planned to become over the time the workhorse of the Dominion Navy.
The base delivered by the Aetius underwent extensive modifications, replacing many of the scientific sensors with military sensors and weaponry - among which are new "Stormfire Turrets". The Aetius' two trademark long range sensors got reduced to only one single array which was placed inside the lower main hull and reconfigured to function as long range reconnaissance and highly advanced targetting sensor. The ship received additional armor plating on the hull making it more resilient than its civilian counterpart as well as additional engines to the wings.
Since the ship is planned to become a workhorse, it got outfitted to fulfill as many roles as possible. While it doesn't exceed in any role, it is hoped to fulfill each role well enough to be a viable asset in assigned operation.
Like its civilian sister, the Horus is capable of planetary landings, with the capability of transporting troups, vehicles or large amounts of supply.
A (currently) unique feature of the Horus is to carry newly developed Cyclops Combat Drones, either remotely controlled from the ship, or by an artificial intelligence.

Roles which are expected of the Horus to be able to fulfill are:
- Reconnaissance
- Fire Support
- Escort
- Patrol
- Search and Rescue
- Evacuation
- Troup / Equipment Transport and Landing

Measurements:
Length 200.00m
Width 145.00m
Height 30.50m

Armament:
- 14 Cluster defense missile launchers (6 forward, 8 sideways)
- 11 light Twin-Barrel rapid fire Particle Blast turrets (designation "Stormturret Mk I", 4 top, 7 ventral)
- 8 light Torpedo launchers (forward)
- 4 Torpedo launchers (forward)
- 6-18 Cyclops Combat Drones (stored in 6 launchbays in the "hump" atop the main hull)

Tactical Role in combat engagements:
The Horus' main role in combat (unless assigned with troup/gear landing) consists of providing defensive support fire for larger, less maneuverable ships. For this the Horus utilizes its turrets, cluster missile systems and drones to primarily intercept incoming fighters, bombers and warheads. Its limited amount of offense armament in form of torpedos is employed should the situation require additional offensive firepower to overcome a foe.
The Stormturrets - considered to be light weaponry in case of ship to ship battle - provide the highest firerate of ship weaponry currently in use and see usage in combat landings of troups or gear as anti-ground / heavy anti-infantry weaponry.

Nice design! It looks more like a fast fighter than a bigger ship, is it sketch up made?

Thank you! :)
It was the idea to make it look fast and sleek to make it somewhat believable that this thing can fly in an atmosphere and land on a planet ;)
And yes, it is made in SketchUp8 (like the other few 3D models I posted so far). ^^ (Lovely program, but I am terribly slow XD)

SketchUp's potential is pretty huge, considering some stuff I saw. Which is in my view very impressive for a free program. I'll just need more time until I get to the detail-level I want in the same or less amount of time (Horus & Aetius took me together about 9 months - although with several breaks).

I'll definetely take a closer look at your gallery soon ^^
